ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER new bar in Dublin.
The latest bar to open in the capital is Idlewild, situated on Fade Street right next to The Market Bar. (Incidentally, it’s brought to you by the same people behind The Market Bar and The Chelsea Drugstore.)
So what can customers expect from Idlewild?
Decadent cocktails, for one thing.
The bar has a pop-up cocktail menu for now. There are seven cocktails, each named for a day of the week.
For example, Wednesday’s cocktail is Absolute vodka, Kahlua coffee liqueur, salted caramel syrup, espresso shot and chocolate caramel square.
In fairness, they look pretty delicious.
*instantly gets thirsty*
They also have an extensive ‘boilermaker’ menu
What’s that, you ask? It’s essentially a beer served with a shot. Idlewild told DailyEdge.ie that the boilermaker is a “big deal Stateside” so they’ve put their own Irish twist on the concept.
I have put my own Irish twist on it as you will see by some of the names we have come up with. The Crafty Dubs pairs Rascals IPA, which is brewed right up the road from us, with Teelings Small Batch Irish Whiskey, which again is a stone’s throw away from Idlewild.
Some of the names of the boilermakers? Cork Boi, Joxer Lives On and Paint Me Like Your French Cailin. They range in price from €9 to €12 and each boilermaker comes with a craft beer (or cider) and a shot.
Aside from that, Idlewild stocks all the usual beers, wines and spirits.
So now. Somewhere to pop into this weekend.
